Tamiya 1/35 BT-42

[Opapapa]

Finally got this finished. It has been on my bench and under the bench for a while. This tank reminded me of the movie Predator: "You are one ugly mother..." BT-42 wasn't a predator though. Quite far from it. It was a lousy attempt to create a cheap assault gun for Finnish army. It was based on captured BT-7's and a british WW1 era 4,5 inch howitzer which were donated to Finland during the Winter war. The tower was Finnish design. Only 18 were built. Quite soon Finland decided to buy Stugs from Germany...

This was a nice kit to build. Only the tower, fenders and few other bits are different from Tamiya's BT-7 kit.

The markings are little bit wonky because I managed to destroy the original Tamiya decals which had a hole in the middle of the swastika. There's a huge bolt on the both sidewalls of the tower and the decals I had for replacement didn't go down well at all. I tried many different decal solutions but no... I should have made a hole on those decals or just sand down the bolts and scratch build new ones. Learning...

Thanks for looking.
