Tamiya panther a marking confusion

Post by Jscale32 »

Hi everyone,

Three days ago I received the 1/35 Panther a from Tamiya in the mail. In the instructions it only has one marking which appears to be: number "421"
of the 2nd SS panzer division (this was not included in the instructions). However, on the decal sheet there are two other markings "309 and 223".
Also there are regiment insignia's on the decal sheet such as: the 1st SS panzer division and 6th SS division, 10th wehrmacht panzer division, 13th
wehrmacht panzer division, 18th wehrmacht panzer division and 3rd SS panzer division. :? Could someone please help me which number matches which
regiment? That would be greatly appreciated! :)

Jscala it would help if we knew which model it is, kit number would also help ,looking through my library 3rd SS Panzer Division Totenkopf used Ausf G one artwork showing a marking of 231. 5th SS Division Wiking again Ausf G with number 321, also found that 10th SS Division Frundsberg used Panther A's numbered 231, 2nd Panzer Division (Wehrmacht ) number 311, if I get a bit more time will look deeper in my library mate.

Kit made in 1976.
On September 13th of 1943, seven Panthers from 1st Battalion of 2nd SS Panzer Regiment of 2nd SSPanzer Division "Das Reich", commanded by SS Hauptsturmfuehrer Holzer (turret number 101) fought with a group of some 70 Soviet T-34 tanks near Kolomak. During the 20 minutes long engagement Panthers destroyed some 28 T-34 tanks without any losses
