"Market's closed!" [US M1A2 SEP TUSK II Abrams] in 1/72

Post by timtamtung »

Hi guys,

I will be starting this GB with the new US M1A2 SEP TUSK II Abrams by Tiger Model, in lovely 1/72 scale!
Just picked this up at my LHS and will be placing it in a diorama scene.

I really want to place all my skills in this build. Hope to bring this badass to life!

The base will be black dog's Middle eastern market.

Sprues: They look great for a new manufacturer. I hope it builds well. For $30, comes with PE, and clear plastic. NO decals however

Started the turret. It's not too bad actually. Superb details. I personally think it's on par with Dragon's 1/72 series quality.
Some rough edges here and there, but can turn out really good. Fitting is perfect!

Enjoying it so far as it's the only game in town.

Top Turret now complete-took longer than i thought, but that was because of the details!

Surprisingly, I found the Revell Contacta cement to work so much better than tamiya extra thin. This plastic just responds better to the contacta!
So if you guys are buying the other TIGER MODEL kits, I highly suggest you use Revell contacta as your bonding agent.

What do you think?

The lower hull is complete now. I added a few metal weights to give it some heaviness.

I was waiting to see who noticed that gift logo. well done chief!
As these guys are new manufacturers, they wanted to thank the first few who bought their early releases. This abrams was one of the early releases.
It is a random gift of either the BF109 / Ki-84 or F4U fighter in their 'Cute Series'.

Trust me this is something you want. It looks so cute and well presented. I got the BF109 (which i prayed for)

Have to take my hat off to you - a 1/72! I can't even see things that small. Hey I do have a question though, that anti slip stuff by tamaya, what's the number? Your light blocked it out.

Cheers Troy,

For 1/72 i used the tamiya grit. however if you are wanting anti skid for 1/35 scale, i suggest you use MIG's anti skid product.
It is the best. I used it for my 1/35 abrams.

tamiya: #87110**800 (grit effect light sand)
MIG: #p508
