So being a Desert Rat myself i knew i had yo join this build.



I served in Germany with 7 Armored Brigade in the signal squadron. We used 432s (photos below)



but for a resin kit £100 worth there is no kit about so had to have a rethink then i remembered this kit in the stash and thought it will be ok. plus i have fond memory's of a few lynx rides in Kosovo and Northern Ireland

Saw an few photos on Facebook the other day looking up from the Squdron HQ towards the bar and across 32 engineers square so sad mate but brought back loads of great memory's may have to take a trip back to Bergen even if it's just to go to MICMAX's lol.

Just hope I can do it justice mate.

The Lynx is a lovely build, I will say one thing though, if you build it with the doors slid open make sure to paint behind the windows before you glue them on, unlike muggins here I had to paint over the window to get the effect.

1st update
So over the last couple of nights this is where im at in this build

So 1st of the box is the open end type and i just hate those boxes so i cut the bottom of and taped the side togther.

Next onto the cockpit and crew area really straight forward to be honest


The main disappointment is the instruments its flat meaning its just a decal which is a pain i would have preferred a little raised detail to pick out



Next i had to get the clear parts ready nice and early so out with the Klear and a tub


Once the part have been dipped into a lockable tub lined with kitchen paper and left to dry for a day or two.



Next i had to remove part of the rear in preparation for some sort of light.


I used my scriber to remove the part

All the cockpit parts ready for primer which came today


But before i primed them i added some detail to some of the seats just some seat belts and a back rest for the center seat


I primed with AK primer and 1st impressions it seems really nice. Here are all the part primed


Then disaster the nozzle on my airbrush went and broke managed to get the broken part out but i will have to wait to i get paid on Tuesday to get a new one so this will be on hold till then.

I've no idea mate I was tightening it up and it just feel apart so must have been on its way out.

When were you stationed in Hohne?
My father was there as a Royal engeneer in the late 70s...

I think that those nozzles are the Achilles Heal of the neos. Over tighten or twist too hard and crack.
You're lucky that you got the broken bit out though Nige, I've heard that a lot of the time that's the hard part.

Tell me about it mate I was only doing it finger tight and just went. Thought the brush was finished but managed to get a small drill bit to bite to get it out. So just a nozzle needed instead of a new brush.

Hi Guys so just a bit of info on the lynx and Op Herrick

The Westland Lynx is a British multi-purpose military helicopter designed and built by Westland Helicopters at its factory in Yeovil. Originally intended as a utility craft for both civil and naval usage, military interest led to the development of both battlefield and naval variants. The Lynx went into operational usage in 1977 and was later adopted by the armed forces of over a dozen nations, primarily serving in the battlefield utility, anti-armour, search and rescue and anti-submarine warfare roles.

The Lynx has the distinction of being the world's first fully aerobatic helicopter. In 1986, a specially modified Lynx set the current Fédération Aéronautique Internationale's official airspeed record for helicopters.[2] As of 2014, this record remains unbroken.

In addition to a wide number of land and naval-orientated variants of the Lynx, several major derivatives have been produced. The Westland 30 was produced as a civil utility helicopter, it did not become a commercial success, only a small number were built during the 1980s. In the 21st century, a modernised variant of the Lynx was designed as a multirole combat helicopter, designated as the AgustaWestland AW159 Wildcat; the Wildcat is intended to replace existing Lynx helicopters. Operation Herrick is the codename under which all British operations in the War in Afghanistan have been conducted since 2002. It consists of the British contribution to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and support to the American-led Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Since 2003, Operation Herrick has increased in size and breadth to match ISAF's growing geographical intervention in Afghanistan.

Operation Herrick superseded two previous efforts in Afghanistan. The first of these was Operation Veritas, which consisted of support to the War in Afghanistan in October 2001. The last major action of this was a sweep in east Afghanistan by 1,700 Royal Marines during Operation Jacana, which ended in mid-2002. The second was Operation Fingal, which involved leadership and a 2,000 strong contribution for a newly formed ISAF in Kabul after December 2001. Command was subsequently transferred to Turkey several months later and the British contingent was scaled back to 300. Since then, all operations in Afghanistan have been conducted under Operation Herrick.

In December 2012 Prime Minister David Cameron announced that 3,800 troops - almost half of the force serving in Helmand Province - would be withdrawn during 2013 with numbers to fall to approximately 5,200. Combat operations were projected to end sometime during 2014. Between 2001 and 24 July 2015 a total of 454 British military personnel have died on operations in Afghanistan.

The UK ceased all combat operations in Afghanistan and withdrew the last of its combat troops on the 27 October 2014.

All training from 2015 is carried out under the operation name of Toral.

I have read a buildlog in a magazine about this kit
It is supossed to be a pretty nice build
Allthough the converted it into a UN version
We had the Lynx in the Netherlands untill last year
I always like the look of it
So i will be following this

So i have my replacement nozzle so i could move on with this build.

Starting with primer of all the internal parts


next up is all the separate parts that make up the internals




after a quick coat of klear it was time for the decals


so just need to weather it then it will be time to build the body of the aircraft.

Bit more done added a wash and some pigments for mud and dirt as being on operation there wouldn't be much time for a clean out after every mission.

So i managed to get the cockpit done and into the main body of the chopper but the fit is not that great if im honest and will need a bit of filler to tidy it up but with that I'll lose some of the details like the raised rivets so will have to think how im going to tackle it. any way on with the photos.

As you can see i used a few elastic bands to clamp her together


Around the engines both sides we have small gaps



A few small gaps on the underside.


With the nose on and again just a few small areas need improving.



And the tail boom on.


So thats where i stand with her now a few small issues not hard to sort just i bit awkward to sort.

Looking great mate just have a dry fit of the front glass before you get too far in because it can be a pig and have to shave a bit off the instrument panel that's what I found out while doing mine don't want you to get paint on and have too wreck it to fix it later otherwise enjoy and I'll be watching lol

Cheers guys not much done but ive filled some of the gaps. i used my liquid styrene which i normally use for a couple of days just to set up properly.






So thats it for now
