Dragon 1/35 Stug III G Late with Zimmerit Kit 6633

Post by PanzerGarage »

Hi guys,
I am also part way through this Dragon Stug III G, with Zim July 44 - kit 6633. Great kit, the level of detail is fantastic, although as expected more challenging of a build than my Tamiya Finnish Stug III G (see here: http://intscalemodeller.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=15043 )
I have so far built this in sections. It has been a while since I used Magic Tracks (have been using Fruils lately) - I forgot how easy these MT make things; I actually like MT a lot.I am not sure what final version I will go with but am tied between West front 222 (which I have some figures for if I decided on a dio) and 304 from the 904th Sturm Bde East Prussia - East front I usually prefer as I think that was the better conflict.
Also, with some minor mods you can make a good Finnish version from this vehicle - follow my Tamiya Stug for reasons why. So down the track will likely get another and do the proper late Finnish version as the Tamiya Late Finnish version is incorrect.
Here is where I am at now:

A bit of trimming still needed but you get the drift so far.

The kit is fantastic guys. The detail is outstanding and you also have a very detailed interior (well gun area not driver etc) that you can play around with. I am not going to glue the roof plate on its that good. Highly recommend it. Also it has actually been good working with Magic Track again over the Fruils that I have used on the last couple. With some very minor mods you could also make this a Late Finnish Stug as the final delivery were these with Zim. Just basically add logs, Large tool Box on rear, cement front, figure and decals - will buy another down the track I think and do that.
I just need to decide whether to go tri-tone West front or East Prussia D Yellow and whitewash. Have started undercoat so will update shortly.
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated
