This is Buzz Beurlings Spitfire Mk IXc from RCAF 412 Sdn Dec 1943 at Biggin Hill.
This is the machine in which he shot down his 31st and final victory.

Lovely job. What was the kit like?

Hi Dave,Thanks.
The kit takes some work, there are some sink marks, nastiest is a gash along the wings in front of the ailerons. The engine is a chore to fit, so if you are not showing it off, leave it out.I have 4 of those kits and everyone is the same. Good detail though, fit is not bad, not too much putty. Recessed lines are good.
If anyone is going to try one of these ICM kits, my best piece of advice is to glue the upper wings to the fuselage before gluing the lower wing panel. MUCH easier to fit and reduce/eliminate wing seam line.
I am building the Eduard kits now (Early IXc, Mid IXc, and IXe). I like the Eduard kits better. There are on par or better than Tamiya. Incredible detail!

Know what you mean about the ICM kits, can be a handful. That's a great tip regarding the wings, thanks.

I've just bought the Eduard Spit MkIXC late so will be interested to see how you get on with yours. Mine is way down the stash at the moment!

how were the decals?

Decals are great quality, not thin, so they didn't break at all. However, you have to put the Micro Sol or Mr Mark Softer on them quickly to start the snug down process early, otherwise you get wrinkles. Got to pay attention to them for at last 20 minutes, more liquid, push down gently, repeat, etc.

The Eduard 1/48 Spitfire Mk IXc Early (Weekend Edition) kit is primed.
As per method above - glue upper wing to fuselage, and then glue lower wing after.....
The seam line from wing to fuselage has no putty or sanding. I t would be a sin to wipe out that detail.
