Stopping for the Night - 1/35 BA=20M

Hi all

I've been slowly picking away at this little oddball for a while and thought it was about time to bring her to life. I plan, eventually, to give her a home on a little vignette. But for now, I give you, my 1/35 Russian Armored Car BA-20M!



This kit, manufacturer unknown, was made in Russia in 1990, making it older than me and manufactured in the dying days of the USSR As such, it is rife with all the problems you could ask for: Ejector pin marks, flash, sink-marks, radioactive plastic (that last one is speculation). However, so far its been an interesting build. The kit is simple, with only two sprues and 4 steps in the instructions (written in Russian, of course).

There are fit-issues galore and the instructions are ambiguous, but with some TLC this may turn out to be a quality model.

Its one of the rarer kits I have seen for Russian armored cars, the Ba-10 is the usually more main stream. I actually am intrigued by this kit. It almost seems like you smuggled it out of Russia!. LOL.

So... This kit is unbuildable. The parts do not fit together at all. there are gaps literally 3mm wide. Its almost like the manufacturer guessed at all of the angles and then didn't write anything down, Would anyone fault me for relegating this one to the part bin? Its disappointing, I was pretty attached to the little guy, but I don't think anything will come of it and I'd rather build something that can be built than waste my time.

Usually if I get frustrated with a kit I put it back into the box and take a break for a while. My mojo usually comes back eventually, if anything, give it some time, I know I've had regrets about kits I've scrapped but wanted to take another shot at later.

I'm going to box it indefinitely. I may pick it up eventually, but its doubtful. I'm OK with sow's ears, but I have a limit. It's almost laughable how terrible the fits are lol.
