A Dutch Spitfire Mk.IXc

Because I seem to be one of the few left yet to build an Eduard Spit, I needed an excuse. My son's best mate, Tom, is Dutch and is keen on military history. His favourite plane is the Spit (obviously) and he's got a birthday in mid-January......

I'd like to thank Jeroen Wijnands for organising these decals for me....

Plenty to choose from...

Nice to see a Dutch spit for a change
We never had that many of them as we received a large order of Mustangs after the war
Most Spitfires where in British service but flown by Dutch pilots
But you could recognize the early.ones by a orange triangle
These versions seem to be later models though
Still nice ofcourse
And allthough i am Dutch i don't know the brand for the decals so where did i go wrong?

Looks like a nice kit. I have one in the same series but I've been devoured by armour builds so its waiting in the stash!!

Are going to use the split engine cowling or use an aftermarket product like Barracuda's cowling?

Thanks bud, but it's too dark! Looks fine in the pic's but when all buttoned up you can't see much.....I don't know mate, I haven't seen her in daylight for a while maybe it's that.

It's my first go at this technique, it's a great way of adding a bit of "flavour" to paintwork, the more goes at it the better it'll become. Have a go mate

I've pretty much re-learnt modelling techniques from ISM

it's all about trying something new (It looks as if pre-shading panel lines might be taking a back seat

)

Nice looking kit. I am new to modeling and am building the Revell Spitfire MkII right now. The detail is nowhere near this one. I can't wait to move up this this kind of kit. I love the detail and this is one of my favorite planes of the era behind the Mustang.

Can't wait to see how it comes out.

Hi Ron, I know what you mean about "moving up" to more detailed kits but sometimes you've just got to jump in and go for it. You can pick up these Eduard kits pretty cheaply but if your not bothered about PE etc, go for a "Weekend" kit which are cheaper, that way if it does go wrong...but I'm sure you'll be fine

A surprising amount of stencils

These decs from Dutch Decals went down ok but I always struggle with decalling so I'm no judge..

I'm sure I've dropped one here, the ID code should run across the u/c but I could make 'em work, it is what it is...

The decals look nice and great job with the paintwork by the way
You can use oil paints to dull the down but i would apply a flat coat first to see how much that does the job

Oh trust me I am. This kit is a level 2 kit. Cost me $13.

I plan on running through a few of these to get my skills up. I figure if I can make this one look good, then it is time to move on up.
