Kiwigavs AMT Pod Racer "Indy" Style

Post by kiwigav »

Hi Gang

This is going to be my next build as I wait for some supplies for the AT-ST.
Apologies, but I cant remember who said Pod Racing was like F1 Starwars Style. But that gave me an Idea.
I have been tossing up with the Idea to give Anakins Pod Racer a F1 or Indy livery. When the kit arrived from my Ebay seller, the decision was easy. The Kit had seen better days and there were a few small bits come off the sprus and the decals were dis-coloured.

I have decided to give the kit a Indy look, in particular Target Chip Ganassi Racing with New Zealand Driver Scott Dixon

Update 1

Have got a little bit done on Pod and Engines. The engines are pretty good for an old kit but there are a few seams/gaps in some annoying places around detail.

Also you may notice the similarities between the pod and F1/Indy cars

Have used a homemade mixture of glue and spru shavings to fill gaps and indents
Image

Engines half assembled

few gaps to fix.

See the similarities?

Catch ya next time :hi:

I found this in an email from a photography site I subscribe to. It is from a camera review titled: Panasonic G7 Shooter’s Report Part I: High-octane excitement at the Indy 500!

Update 2

Have got well on the way with engines and have started painting pod.

the jet exhausts I have painted using a combination of AK Xtreme Aluminium,Durlaluminium and Burnt metal in adition to using Tamiya clear yellow, red and blue for heat stains. The next big step is the engine its self with all the plumbing.

Other parts get first red coat

Bit more progress

Well we have almost unpacked the house and now have a temp cave set up. Have got a bit done on the Pod Racer.
Engines are almost done. just a few little bits here and there to do. Will probably add a bit more burnt metal to exhaust.

have installed the Eduard pre-painted harness set onto kit seat. Pretty pleased with outcome.

Looking great Gav, the seat harness is awesome
Really like the look of this build :thumb2:

Sounds like we are running parallel lives wrt house moves at the moment.
I have some of my modelling stuff up and running, but much is still packed up and some deep in storage
The Star Wars build keeps moving along though, slowly
