HELP Tiger 1 505th at Kursk

Post by RichardT »

Hi Guys,

has anyone built a 505th Tiger 1 tank at Kursk. If so can you send me pics of your build.

Here is mine and I am NOT happy with it. Any thoughts /criticisms will be much appreciated. Don't be shy - I just
want to sort the thing out asap. Is the paint scheme wrong ?

Please let me know,

Kind Regards,
Richard

You may already be aware, but thought I'd link it anyway.

The photos I've found of the 505th at Kursk show "late production" Tigers with steel wheels and cast cupola.

That said, the first thing that strikes me about yours is the red brown camo stripes are a tad too large. the style and placement are fine, just too much when compared to old photos.

505th Tigers had a yellow band painted on the barrel recuperator shield with the tan's number in black on that. Where you have "321" 505th Tigers had the charging knight logo. To be totally accurate 505th Tigers are often seen carrying logs on each side of the hull. I presume these are "unditching" logs.

Here's a color illustration taken from the internet so I don't know what source to credit.

The build itself is great. I like the composition and the groundwork is darn near perfect. Weathering is spot on.
