spitfire

Post by alecras234 »

Hi im building a 1 48 scale spitfire. im at the propeller stage, the plane is built but the prop isnt fitted. How do i fit the propeller so it can spin or do i just glue it on but then it won't spin.

Most kits I've seen require you to put the propeller on as you assemble the front of the fusualage if you want it to turn.

I tend just to glue mine on so it doesn't spin. In my opinion one less thing to break!

I've got a bunch of 48 scale spitfires that have to be built. Which one are you working on?

I never glue mine if I can help it. If you don't glue, you can remove the prop which makes it easier to pack it/box it if you want to take it somewhere to show it off or ship it. In that way you can protect your propeller.

I glue mine too. Its the last thing I do. If I do it before the kit is finished I can virtually guarantee I'll break it.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

i'm building the mk1 Spitfire that was flown by Eric Lock. I've attached the undercarrage down and painted, i'm very impressed. Got prop to paint and canopy to paint and a few touch ups.
