BB Pellets

Post by Joker56 »

I was wondering if I could use BBs to place into my paints as an aid to mixing them
Anyone tried or doing so , thoughts etc
Main reason I'm finding it impossible to source stainless steel ball bearings this part of the world without paying three times the cost for shipping .

They are too light and small to overcome the thickness of the paint. Try machine shops or mechanics for steel bearing, or use glass marbles or beads or use stainless steel nuts.

Is the entire range from Ammo of mig availble where you live
They have those ball bearings wich they use in the paints but also sell them seperate in little
You can find them here http://www.migjimenez.com/en/accessorie ... ixers.html
Maybe this helps
As i think BB pellets are made fron soft metals and can include lead so there is a chance they will affect your paint

Simply BB pellets are not heavy enough to work. Being plastic they won't affect your paint, but they will be of no use.

I use small stainless steel nuts if I need to add a "mixer"

Just go to eBay and you can buy marine grade nuts about £5 for about 30 loads of different sizes

I would try it out on a old paint bottle
The round BB's I have for our Red Rider pellet gun are pretty solid, but I think they are copper so would rust.
I have a ton and the gun is broken, so would like to hear if it works
Try and see what happens :

I bought some 6 mm glas bb's from a Chinese online shop, put 2/3 in and works fine. Checked some from an empty bottle which was shaken like mad and they had no damage to them. They also have the right size for the common used 17 ml bottles.

Why not use a glass marble? Most rattle cans I've emptied have used them

Like Paul said, whatever you use (if metal) make sure it's marine grade stainless steel. I would also add, dont use anyrhimg round...the nozzle can get blocked and the tip will blow off if you squeeze hard enough...ask me how I know lol
