spreading the word !!

Post by burnie43 »

So, as is my Christmas Eve tradition ( when I can ) I dress as Santa and visit quite a few families with gifts ( it's the fun that I get outa doing it )
This year one of my victims was a wee boy of 11 who's father says that he loves making thins....well that was it........an new member to our great hobby perhaps ?
I also remember that he goes nuts over the Dreamliner aircraft...yep you guessed it...Santa brought him a Revell Dreamliner kit (with some glue ) and then at some point later in the evening, me ( as me now ) revisited the family and he was going crazy with excitement over the kit that " Santa " had delivered so as a modeler it was my duty to offer advice and guidance on how to deal with this kit !!
" Build it any way that you want , just enjoy it " was my advice !
I will go round ( with a wee kit of my own )and sit with him, watch how he uses his hands and works things out but I will never criticize his work as he may be the next generation of kit bashers AND this is a hobby, for fun and interpreted by our own individual imagination !!
( this post has ended up like my building....never know where it's gonna go !!)....but you get my point ?
ENJOY and lets help the young uns experience the joy of this hobby !
Cheers
Mark ( Santa for a day )

Yep ditto from me as well. We've just been watching a program about billionaires and how they live, most of them it seems are sad and lonely folk who just do the sad and lonely bit in luxury. We both agreed that it's family and friends that bring riches and Mark must be one of the wealthiest guys on Earth according to that reckoning. Well done that man and a beacon of inspiration for us all.
Regards, Dave.

:thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: Way to go!!!.............Glad to see someone include the kids. Too often, we as adults shun the kids from "our" hobbies.
I used to be in a Model RR club that was just horrid about kids...........main reason I quit.

I salute you Sir :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2:

Guys
I can't believe how humble I feel by your comments, believe me, my intention was not to look for praise or sympathy ( I get embarrassed by praise and I hate sympathy ! ) I really just wanted to share my feelings with you all as you have kept me amused ( and frustrated , in a good way ) especially when I was stuck in my scratcher !! ( bed )
I have always loved life, glass is always overflowing for me and there is always someone worse off, I do not put my personal or private feelings on social media ( is this social media ? If so I have made an exception ) but I view ISM as a giving and sharing forum...so I have shared !!
Now......more turkey and sprouts AGAIN !!...Gotta open these windows, it's the sprouts !
Thanks again friends
