All the U.S. “Wild Weasel” F-16s are being given a new paint job similar to the one of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

It is called “Have Glass 5th generation” as it represents the evolution of the standard Have Glass program that saw all the F-16s receiving a two-tone grey color scheme made with a special radar-absorbing paint capable to reduce the aircraft Radar Cross Section:
For the moment, the JSF-like paint job will be applied to the F-16CM (formerly CJ) Block 50 Fighting Falcon aircraft that can carry a variety of air-to-air and air-to-surface ordnance, including HARM (High-speed Anti-Radiation Missiles) and precision-guided munitions.
Their role is to enter the enemy territory ahead of the strike package to take care of the enemy air defenses: radars and fixed and mobile SAM (Surface to Air Missiles) batteries.

They have been developing this special paint for a while and this is the 5th generation of it.

Although not the aircraft I will be modeling but this is an example of a F-16 with “Have Glass 5th generation” scheme

here is a F-35A with a “Have Glass 5th generation” scheme

Time to start building my "Swamp Fox" Wild Weasel of the The 169th Fighter Wing (169 FW) , a unit of the South Carolina Air National Guard, !! !!

I will not be using the eduard brassin exhausts as pictured above. I will be using a Plug/cover to cover the exhaust as this will be a displayed on the ground as a static display.

I will be adding the following AM items.

1:48 Steel Beach Accessories F-16 Falcon Cover Set
This set contains:

2 AOA probe covers
1 covered ACES II ejection seat
1 covered HUD
also in the picture is the 1:48 Steel Beach Accessories F-16 Falcon NSI FOD Plugs i will be installing.
Image

Image
Image

side consoles are installed and ready for sanding the details in preperation for the eduard zoom set.
Image

some inspiration pictures

the weapons loadout I will be using on my Swamp Fox Wild Weasel build. it will be a loadout for a DEAD mission (destroy enemy air defences). with one AGM-88, two GBU-54s converted fromr the GBU-38 set. GBU-54s are laser guided vice GPS guided like the GBU-38s

began working on the cockpit tub.. installed the side consoles and sanded them. then primed and srayed with Vallejo USAF Medium gray. When dried installed some of the Eduard PE.. still have to mount the flight controls, before mounting and closing the fuselage.

Assembled the fwd and aft top fuselagesections together. This is not IAW Tamiya's instructions.. If you assemble the fwd and aft parts before and install as one unit to the bottom fuselage you can avoid the seam/Gap issues ( that seam issue would/will be front and center of your model) that come when you apply both upper sections seperately to the botton fueslage.

assembled the main wheel bay and installed on the lower Fuselage.

Mounting the Tail assembly.. alittle over engineered but pretty cool and makes for a nice fit,

The "Carpet Monster" is licking it's chops just waiting for those tapping screws.

Nice job so far! Great scheme.

I have to ask...where did you pick up the decal set? I see it also has the markings for the MN ANG 148thFW. Happens to be the same unit as my Viper entry, just the later paint scheme than I'm doing. I have not seen this particular set before and would love to pick up one just to have it.

Can I ask you, why the Alclad base coat?

The plan is to Mix 50/50 Alclad II stainless steel with Tamiya XF-24.dark gray.. then mix that with LacquerLacqeur thinner 50/50 then spray over the stanless steel base. hoping to spray a light coat to where the Stainless steel base coat with help with the metallic sheen.... will see how it turns out.:

the actual color of the aircraft is not available in model paint.. so i'll have to mix my own

Wait, just to be sure.
When you say: "mixing Tamiya and Alclad", you do mean mixing them in a cup and the spray them? You don't mean putting a layer off Tamiya over a layer off Alclad?

Sorry to be nagging about this, but it sounds a bit unreal knowing Tamiya is alcohol based and Alclad laquer based.

mix them 50/50 then mix that( 50/50 Tamiya/ alclad ) with lacquer thinner in a 50/50 ratio then spray

First two coats of the 50/50 mix of XF24 and Alclad Stainless steel then mixed 50/50 with lacquer thinner. One more light coat to go.. thinkiing maybe to add a bit more of the Stainless steel to get a very(more of) slight metalic sheen.

I still have some detail paint work to do in and around the cockpit. also noticed in the pics a seam to work on fwd of the cockpit.

Ultimate wash wiped off and then added an AK wash to some of the center of the panels. These aircraft are kept clean unlike other USAF F-16s which show the wear and tear from years of war. I didn't want an aircraft straight out of the paint barn, also added a bit of MM metalizer aluminum ..Not much at all.. dipped a cocktail stick into the jar then wiped the excess off.. then stirred that inot Alclad semi matt Klear kote to give a suttle sheen. not really noticable in the pics.

completed the base. I used Uschi's scenic dispay for March AFB. I was surprise when i opened the package that the airfeild came on multuple cardbooard pieces and you have to trim and put it together like a puzzle.. it came out fine and laid down well with sray adhevsive. I have a few touchups to do where some of the pieces join.
