Airfix 1/72 eurofighter typhoon

Post by Droflet01 »

Well being stuck on camp on flood relief call this weekend I decided I would get a small simple kit to do over the weekend.

Plumped for the airfix 1/72 eurofighter typhoon.

Basically because I'm new and it comes with everything.

Now this is my fifth model and I wasn't expecting great things but I can safely say this kit is awfull.

Flash everywhere parts that don't fit in the slightest and pain that has a satin finish which is doing my head in.

Oh and the detail on this kit is poor/non existent. Simple things just aren't there. The fuel tanks are wrong there is no apu exhaust not even panel lines for you to paint it or a decal. The flapperons/ailerons and rudder are all fixed so if you want to do it with gear down you can't configure it correctly. And the panel lines all need etching.

I wasn't expecting great things like I say but I was expecting to be able to make it look OK and kill some time.

If it had cost more than 15 quid I would have kicked right off.
Will stick some pics up in a bit.

I have a feeling the Airfix Euro Fighter Typhoon is modeled after an early prototype. I have very similar memories of the awful experience that you are having (all be it 20ish years ago when I built it) and I suspect mine went for a test flight terminating in the bin.
