Hi Guys ive been really looking forward to this GB since it was announced this will be my 1st ever Russian aircraft so should be fun.



And of course the sprue shots.




The Decals


Masks, PE and the beautiful looking resin.


Brilliant colour instructions.


It will be one of these two birds i plan to do.



So roll on the start of this cant wait lol

That looks like a nice kit
i have a different version (PMF i think) but i will save that for the shiny stuff build
i will be looking forward to your build and hopefully i can pick up some usefull tips in the proces

Update Number 1

So ive cleared space on the bench to start this bad boy and the very 1st thing i did was order some paint


The green i needed for the wheels and some other bits and bobs but the blue is so i can mix both together 50:50 and hopefully get a close match to the Eduard PE. I know i could have got AKAN paint but there was none about when i went to order them them so these are 2nd best hope it works

So i started in the cockpit and straight away we have to do some PE. As i dont do alot of photo etch with my kits i dont have any of the fancy tools but that works for me just fine.
I have this glass stand that i use for my hard surface but a plate or even a tile would do


Next a sharpe knife again just my choice


And a Peg to stop bits flying off every where.


So this is what we are left with

4 Tiny little bits

These bits need to have a slight bend on them as they are for the pedals straps.
So i use a wooden dowel this one is just a ice lolly stick that ive cleaned


and i use an rubber/eraser to cushion the piece for the bends


and here they are in place in the cockpit just using CA glue.


The PE instrument panel glued together ready for when the panel is painted

i gave the same 2 paints to mix the cockpit color so i am looking forward to your results for that

Time for another quick update

So it time to give these 2 paints ago
I got myself an empty jar


and some syringes


i pulled about 1ml of each out of the pottles and decanted it into my empty jar.



after a really good stir i sprayed it on some scrap plasti card and it actually looks quite good not perfect but close enough for me.
