Tamiya 1/48 F-16CJ

My first build in ISM and since i had Tamiyas f-16 in my stash it is a perfect time to tag along in this SIG.

This is my weapon:



And the sprueshot, sprues are still in there bags. This one already have a tinted canopy from factory, great work Tamiya!







My initial plan is to do this OOB in an in flight display with full load of weapons.

But I cant guarante that i wont by aftermarket upgrades........

Tamiyas decals use to be rubish so i might order new ones just in case.

So here is my first update!

Some essential tools, some of them need to be replaced


I usually dont folow the instructions. I felt like starting with the exhaust and burner can, just to see if they are up to standard.


Looks ok after i painted it gloss white


And then some oils to weather it


And this was the result




It will do for the moment, I might try some pigment to finish it off in the end.

After that i go direct to work with the intake and making my best to make it seemless. First lots of pytty. I like the "perfect putty"
cos its really easy to clean up with water.


Intake finished after sanding and painting gloss white. I polished it with Tamiya compound and cotton bud Its still little dusty in the pics.




With the compressorfront in place it looks convincing



I wanted to see if the nose has a good fit. Always tape it first and dryfit before any glue ruins your day. Tamiyas fit is excellent so i just went on with extra thin.

New update!

Work on pilot and cockpit continues. I will display this build in flight mode so i build the pilot and painted him.

He looks like he could fit in a new star wars movie Modern pilots with modern gear...







And the poor guy need somewhere to sit at work so i did the seat as well.




And the rest of the cockpit, almost done.







Everything so far is right as tamiya molded it.

All is painted with tamiya and Vallejo acrylics. Weathering is made with oils and since it looks that the original didnt weather so much I did just a slight weathering.

I did do some scratchbuildig. Strangly Tamiya never molded front of the vulcan gun to be placed in the gun port.
I thought it looked to empty so i did a simple scratchbuild so if someone looks into the gun port
it looks like there is something there



Im doing my best now to finish cockpit area so i can close the fusalage and paint it before i go to holliday.

It would be great if it could cure while Im away on holliday.

I have just ordered new decals for this bird/viper!

Tamiyas decals just dont work for me, cant get them to stick or conform to the surfice.

Good and high quality on the plastic and such rubbish decals, I cant figure out why? Do they care?
