Compare to the Airfix website price of almost £60.00, Argos are doing this for £30.00

Put the £30 toward the 1:24 Typhoon, that's coming from a die hard Spitfire fan.

I picked up the Airfix 1/24 messerschmitt bf109e in their winter sale for just £19.99 and frankly that's all it was worth, almost everything was a poor fit with loads of flash too.
I only wanted it to test new painting and weathering techniques which is all it was good for (IMO).

We've all become spoiled and sophisticated by modern new tool releases. I can remember as a kid making the Spit and the 109 from Airfix in 1/24 and being absolutely enthralled by them. One of my fondest memories is of my Dad asking me to look in the boot of our car and there was the 109 he had got for me. God, I loved him!

Its a shame they are still selling them. Better to no longer offer them and come up with more releases like the Typhoon.

One thing I would say though is their Mk V re-release of the old Mk I Spit is a heinous sin against modellers everywhere. The conversion parts are truly a dog's breakfast.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

As much as I'd never buy one, I suppose they are great value to buy for kids to start out on. Much better a real kit than those snap together things.
