Cleaning canopies ( and a bit of a rant)

Post by CJSomerset »

Got a Great Wall Hobby FW 189 for christmas, the kit is great and it came with canopy masks which I was excited to try……

But they are rubbish! Most don't fit, lots labelled wrongly and some just don't exist!

Some are so bad that I've removed them altogether, but they have left sticky dust attracting smudges.

As there are almost 80 masks, I don't want to peel them all off and start again.

But if I paint now and then find all the windows are dirty when I peel off the masks, how could I clean them?
Some days it's not even worth chewing through the restraints!

When I used Bare Metal Foil to mask a canopy I was left with some remaining adhesive. I think that is what you are referring to? I used GOO Gone, a citrus based de-greaser and a cotton bud. Good Luck.

Had the same problem! Goo gone should do the trick. I have had some bad canopy masks myself. Sometimes its better to try and make your own.
