Dragon 1:35 T-34/85 With Bedspring armor

Post by Steady »

Alright, so this will be my first ever GB and my second tank in 1:35. Going all out on this one with new paint and weahtering equipment. I also invested in a CRplus Infinity airbrush which will be fun to try out on this kit. The plan for now is to just finish the tank in time but if I were to get some time over then ill try to make some sort of city diorama base for it.

The kit:

Got a few things in the mail yesterday from Emodels (The royal navy paints are not intended for the tank )

Stay tuned for updates and all comments are appreciated :cheers2:

Progress is being made but its right pain having to cut of these fenders..

Nonetheless they did come off relatively well :th:
Image

Progress, no wheels yet though

Another update coming up tomorrow I think as I glued the chassis togheter a moment ago.

Stay tuned for updates and all comments are appreciated :cheers2:

Been doing some work today so progress pictures:

Started of with sanding the putty I put on yesterday evening.

Before:

After:

I then started working on the frontpanel of the tank including hatches and the chassi MG.

Put on some more of the PE above the engine compartment, quite happy with the result but some of the parts felt like they were fighting back
Image

Moving on to exhausts and fuel barrel PE tomorrow so stay tuned for more updates and all critique and comments are appreciated :cheers2:

Been able to do some work today so heres a small update:

Oh dear......
Image

Worked out fine but I need to cut off the molded straps tomorrow on all the barrels.
Image

Image

Glued the turret togheter, will have to try and smoothen the edge between the two parts.
Image

Dry fitted the barrel, adds some good weight to the model and it looks awesome
Image

Might try to make the weld line that runs along the turret side like in the picture below, so if anyone has any tips on making these lines then comment! (Never tried making them before):

Update incoming!!

So I have been making some good progress on the build and it´s all coming togheter quite nicely. It´s been pretty straight foward since my last update, lots of PE glueing and bending. But i´ll let the pictures show you whats been done:

The turret as i were right after glueing it togheter.
Image

New welding seam added with liquid greenstuff
Image

Image

All of the turret details have been glued in place, it´s going to be all buttoned up this one!
Image

Fuel drum holders have been put in place as I doubted that the crew would have removed them completely before adding the bedspring armor. Could be completely wrong but it´s a right pain finding any solid info on this tank.:
Image

Started bending the bedspring peices today and I have to say that the instruction are extremely vague on this part. (ill upload a picture of that in the next update) :?
Image

I also decided to have one fuel drum installed on the left side so i modified the bedspring peice a bit for it to fit inbetween the equipment and fuel drum. (Aka. cutting the peice in half   )

But over all it´s coming along nicely and I will soon be moving on to the tracks, so stay tuned for more updates and all critique and comments are appreciated :cheers2:

Update incoming!

So im now at the stage of painting and wheatering, here are a few pics to get you guys up to speed on where im at right now and showing you the way there.

All ready for priming.
Image

I dont have any pictures of it primed but it got a does of Vallejos grey primer, I then sprayed it with Tamiyas German grey for a base coat.
I then used Ammo by Migs chipping fluid.

And on to the green!
Image

I later added a lighter shade of Vallejos Russian green by mixing in just a few drops of white.
Image

Some streaking and rust effects going on, I dont want to overdo the wheatering on this one.
Image

I then losely masked up the turret for where the white line was supposed to go, I chose not to use the decals included for this as I wanted a more "in field/Hand painted" feel.
Image

The result

With decals
