"Ultimate" Thinner ratio for "Stynylrez" primer?

"Ultimate" Thinner ratio for "Stynylrez" primer?.............I'm curious, as I like to thin everything I spray, and have read some thin, some don't..........opinion??

That's right Jim.
You don't thin acrylic primers. They don't chemically bond to surfaces like the solvent primers do. They stick like glue. When you add thinners to them they aren't as effective and they can fail. Sometimes badly.
They're meant to be used neat.
If you have to reduce thickness then water is the best thing to add as it's low in caustic value. It will mix with instead of break down the primer. But it will still weaken it.
If the primer that you're spraying seems too thick then increase the PSI and needle/nozzle size rather than thin it.

I think people are having trouble spraying this primer with their "normal" airbrush as it is thick so needs a .4 needle
Also, your spray pattern is better with the larger airbrushes like this Iwata we were talking about

If you watch Dr Paul Budzik's videos he shows very well why a small airbrush and primer is a challenge ...need a wide fan pattern for good overlapping coverage. Watch the whole series, they are great videos

Thanks for the tips, guys..............guess I'll try it "neat" in my Grex SA, if no joy there, I'll revert to "canned" Tamiya primer. Not in a hurry for another airbrush

Just get a larger needle/nozzle set for your airbrush. Whilst you shouldn't thin primers, you can get away with it with Ultimate Primer by adding no more than 10% Ultimate Thinner, try that

Stylnrez is pretty much the very best acrylic primer on the market for our hobby Jim.
It's worth the money.
A .4mm needle/nozzle and 20-25psi on your compressor is all that you need to spray it.
That's all that I use and it works like bees and honey for me.
I struggled for years to find a good acrylic primer and nothing compares to this stuff bud.

You'll have problems if your airbrush is a siphon feed, 'REZ is to thick to suck up. It's fine in a gravity feed brush.
You can also use the hairy sticks and sponges to put it on.

I am in the same boat.
Spray can primer until I can get a proper larger fan pattern airbrush.
Then the stynlrez will be sweet
