'Berlin 1945 - Here come the Russians' Diorama

Post by rodrant »

So here are the Photos of my finish Diorama , the story of it depicts the Russian advance in Berlin in 1945 , and the decay of Germany and the final battle that lead to the finish of WW2 in Europe ! Still some Nazi fighters decided to fight till the last , and in this Dio we can see a group of SS Fighters that are to do some waste in the Russian Army , still their odds aren't the best ...

I invite you to see in Wiki for some info on this Battle in WW2 , still a lot to say , and a lot happened in this battle , but you may find here some info :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Berlin

Also my main 'actor' on this Diorama is the JS-2 Heavy Russian Tank ,

also you may find some info here , again in Wikipedia :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IS_tank_family

or in this site :

http://www.militaryfactory.com/armor/de ... mor_id=357

I prefer to show you the photos , than to place here a large text , you may find interesting to see the above links !

About the photos ...this Diorama is BIG and for me is hard to take some good quality pictures , so THis was what I can get :

Just for fun , I added this flag from reality in scale , it is a replica of the flag raised in Reichtag :-) , I didn't like to see the falg as it covered most of the tank , but this is just for fun to you to see :

A very epic diorama! It really captures those last few day of the war. Outstanding work mate!

Yes a lot did happen in this battle, many atrocities were committed, truly an awful battle especially for the civilians. I don't know about you but I kinda pity the German people, first ruled by a evil Fascist regime then conquered by barbaric Communists, but as they say War is Hell.

Than you Sturm , really one of the things that I enjoy in modelling is the Historic part , I really enjoy WW2 history and when I'm making a diorama or a build I usually think in the battles and the scene where the dio/build happen . In this case I really try to depict the last days in Berlin , the destruction , the fanatism of some last nazis that still think they change the odds and the massive Russian advance , and really in war are the civilians that suffer most in my opinion and this Berlin battle was absolutely awfull as you mention , fully agree : war is hell , and one of my objectives is to also that people never forget how war can be bad and how can affect so many people , incredible to see the number of civilians dead for nothing , the war was lost for some months already ...

Thank you my friend ! I try to make a very detailed diorama , learn a lot , still in the end we always think that we could add this , or remove that :-) , but like a lot the way it turned to , and lot of stuff learned ...I maybe try some 100 % scratchbuild in the future , there are here in the forum some good fine examples and great lessons to learn :-)
