Greetings from Houston

Post by darkhelmet25 »

Hello to all,

I, like many others, am just returning to the hobby. I've been lurking and absorbing all the wonderful info and builds that have taken place here and on youtube, and felt it was time to jump in. My primary interest was, and is, WW2 armor and aircraft. I've more recently become interested in additional subjects, such as WW1 aircraft (Wingnut Wings) and WW1 armor. Having said that, my first foray back will likely be a build for my dad - the 1/48 scale Italeri S-2E Tracker (VS-36). This is the plane/squadron my dad flew back in the mid 1960's. I'm in the process of building up the basic tools and supplies to get started. Any suggestions appreciated on good acrylic paints (for airbrush) for light gull grey (fs46440) and insignia white (fs37875) - surprisingly hard to locate.

Thanks and looking forward to being part of the community.

Welcome!

Tamiya XF-2 Flat White is pretty close. For the gull grey I think Gunze/Mr. Color has a couple (H51 or something). Otherwise I think you can mix 1:1 Tamiya XF-2 white with like an XF-20 Ocean Grey to achieve the same color.

ISM has a nice color chart converter post: click here to go see.

:welcome: Hi Matt. Vallejo Model Air do both colours you are looking for. I'm assuming you are airbrushing it.

Thanks guys, and special thanks to Lysus and Avgas for the paint comments - I should have left that for the paint thread.

Have a great week.
