Airfix 1/48 BF-109E

Hey everybody,

I thought I'd post some pics of my BF109, built largely following Paul's video guide. This was my first go at airbrushing something, and only my second attempt at any model since returning to the hobby (my previous ventures being Warhammer figures 10 years or so ago).

This was actually finished a year or so ago and has got a bit dusty so please excuse the quality of the photos.

Painted using Vallejo Model Air from the RLM set, and weathered with ground up pastels. I certainly think the RLM65 is a bit too blue - the Model Colour version of RLM65 is nicer, but really doesn't spray so well.

I used Pledge to gloss the model, and some Microsol/Microset although I did get a bit of silvering on the no-step marks (presuming that's what the red lines on the wings are!?)

Fantastic work Simon! I have the same kit waiting to be built with the same Adolph Galland scheme. The only suggestion I'll offer is the antenna wire. I use EZ-Line (fine-black) and it works pretty well. I've also heard about using a .003 monofilament fly fishing line, but haven't tried it yet. I think once you attach it, you light a match, blow it out and use the residual heat to tighten it up. Some black Sharpie and done. The only thing with the EZ-Line is that it is flat if you look close enough. Keep on being awesome!

When someone says a Bf109 I get excited, but when you say it's an Emil, I foam at the mouth.
Anyways that is a very well done model, you should be proud.
