Eduard Weekend Edition F6F-3 Hellcat

Post by Willem »

First completed build of 2016 and was started on New Year's Day.

Painted using the Hataka US Navy Late set which proved a bit of a handful. My first go at a really heavily weathered airframe as the aircraft is depicted as it may have appeared towards the end of a four month tour on Ondonga in the Solomon Islands.

White 13 'MY OWN JOAN II' BuNo 25813 of Lt C K 'Ken' Hildebrandt, VF-33, Christmas Day 1943.

Hildebrandt used this aircraft to shoot down four 'Zekes' and a 'Hamp' during his squadron's spell on the Solomons between August 1943 and January 1944.

Looks really nice mate. Whatever issues you had with paint hasn't taken away from the final model. You should be proud of that one.

Many thanks guys.

Another big US radial-engine fighter on the way (if work would just calm down a bit).

Thanks for taking the time to comment.
