Model Shops North London?

Popping over to London for a few days at the end of April. Staying in Paddington. Any decent model shops / military book shops about?

35 years ago there used to be a place just inside one of the doors at Brent Cross. I wonder if it's still there?

35 years is a very long time and I hate too say that model kit shops ain't cool no more so you have nearly no chance of that shop being in Brent Cross
And yes hannants is expensive

The shop was one of the Modelzone chain, and it vanished years ago now, it's a pity because I used to disappear there while the wife bought shoes. Or something.

Edit- I may be thinking of Lakeside, they are all the same to me!

There used to be a Modelzone at Bluewater but its now a shoe shop. The world needs more shoe shops like it needs more lawyers!

As for Hannants, it can be expensive I admit but then I think I think a lot of model kits and supplies are expensive in general. What I would say in Hannants favour is their search facility is great and the way they list after market products linked to specific kits is very helpful. I know some have made comments about how helpful they are when dealing with complaints but the one time I had an issue I got a replacement product sent out straight away, no questions, no dramas.

Are you sure your talking about hannants web site ? Yes it does list a lot of products but they do not link any after market products when you click on a single kit, that sounds more like scalemates. If you type say panzer 4 dragon into the search then it will give you any thing linked to the no.4 the word panzer and dragon, you really have to be precise when entering text in the search bar

I Will have to correct that last statement
Went on hannants searched for a kit, clicked on the kit and below was all the extras
I got too be honest never noticed that before.May be i was always searching for aftermarket items so it never showed any thing below.

Yes I am talking about Hannants. I use Scalemates if I want to check the history of a kit.

As for Hannants, the search facility within the catalogue section works perfectly well. You can search by manufacturer, scale, item type (injection kit, PE, resin aftermarket etc) and key word (name). So if I wanted to look for 1/35 panther kits I could do so by using the scale, key word and item type boxes. This would bring up a list of panthers they have available. I can then click on a particular kit it shows the kit and any after market linked to it, be it decals, PE, resin or even books.

I've found it a really useful tool. It works for me.
