SD KFZ 250/1 alt, French campaign 1940 information

Post by pir8hntr »

I have a question about German armor, more specifically the SD KFZ 250/1 alt. I am gathering up kits to use in a fall of France 1940 build and I have discovered that the net is very full of misinformation, amazing as that might seem, about them. I am looking for information about what units used them and their markings and color schemes. Having read a large amounts of posts on ISM, I know there is some very knowledgeable people on here about German armor used in WWll, so any reference books or websites that I can go to, or any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

The 250 wasn't used in the French campaign. It didn't see service until Barbarossa/North Africa

This series is pretty accurate and it matches my up with what Jentz says in the Encyclopedia of German Tanks of WWII.

Thank you sir. I had been to one site that showed it in a gray color and listed it as used in France in 1940. In the written portion it stated it wasn't built until 1941. In other search attempts, it would bring up the model kits by different manufactures. So that is why I came here with my question. After watching the video, I can use it in France, not in 1940 tho. As I said in my original post, a lot of misinformation out there. I'll try to find a copy of the book you referenced and use that for my other questions.

Thanks Hammilkar. There is a large amount of misinformation out there. One video I watched showed them being sent to the South of France in 1942 when the allies landed in North Africa. That is what I was referring to about them being used in France. I have done a lot more research since then and will build it as it would have been used in the Russian Campaign. Less stress. That is why I come here for my information.
