Post by privatepete »

Hi,still waiting for the post to arrive :wall: so I thought at least I could start this one,I am going to convert it into 251/7 which was designed as a specialist version for the Pioneer Assault Engineers & was a equipped with a pair of assault bridges. The 2 bridges & supports and some of interior I will hopefully : be able to scratch build.

I built that kit a couple months back, it was one of my sacrificial lambs to try out new (to me) weathering techniques so I'll be watching this one to see how it's done properly :D

This is absolutely wonderful modification work.
Excellently done. A finely crafted build.

I'm not completely sure, but that barrel shaped dohicky between the driver and passenger seats was used in the ambulance 251s.
I thought that I remembered reading about that in one of the AFV club kits that I build a long time ago.

Hi Mike there is nothing wrong with your memory, the 251/8 ambulance had a water tank between the front seat's, AFV Club Kit/ Dragon leave it out but Tamiya still supply it in the kit, had a hard time finding out about it but interesting I now know a bit more now : :

If you cut small length of small plastic tubing and slip over the jaws of your clamps. This will prevent them from chipping you nice paint work.

the painting that's the advantage of blurry photos .But saying that its nice for a old man to hear it now and then.

nice details, though the conversion to Pieonierpanzerwagen is not only about the assault bridges, I think you should have changed the interior as well. IMHO instead of the two benches were storage boxes like in the picture:

Thanks for all the comments, all taken on board, that's made the decision easier :cheers2:sorry it's not a 100% accurate this is my last build.

Can you tell me where you got the picture from and which vehicle it is, standard/command/2.8mm spzb 41 A/T gun I known command once had 2 radios but not sure which side it was fitted ,yes I was a wear of the rear bench seats where removed for stowage bins /tools .
I was trying to follow a build by Kamil Feliks Sztarbala who I think is quite well known in the model world he has had Build's in Model Military International and has load's of online build sites that's where I got my information from.

Very nice privatepete, nice idea with the tape never tried that might have to give it a go. To save you some cash, at a store here called Meijer they sell cat claw pieces, there just like those cardboard part stands you use, it comes in two sizes small, large, 3inWide to 12inlong, and 8inwide to 12inlong. $2.50 to $3.50 small $5.50 to $8.50 large. Are hobby cost so much, every little bit helps, at least it does me. Sorry for the rambling. And hope this helps, Again very cool build.

Pete absolutely Paul is spot on. In any case no one AFV is the same most are manufactured in batches, in more than one location/manufacturer, often changed during production because of part bin shortages or modifications due to combat experiences. This is common with conversions or "specials" like this one and then of course is the user/troops/crew etc who would personalise the vehicle to suit their needs and battle damage or losses.

The picture is just one example of the above they weren't all the same absolutely they weren't.

Keep building and posting Pete I for one am following this very closely :th: :th:

Outstanding work, Pete! :th: :th:

I love the "beat to hell" weathering job and all the stowage crammed in every available space gives the Hanomag that "lived in" look.

Hope you get to feeling better! ☺
