m1131 stryker and dio

Post by Liamcraven666 »

I had the urge to build an Armour kit a couple weeks back and decided to look in my stash ...but non of the kits really interested me, so i thought i would look online for a kit and stumbled upon this and had the idea to build a simple base for it. And so I bought this and some supply s for it! :banana: here it is ;

ohhh... i love buying things

Looking forward to this, make sure to give me/us a peek at the plastic before you start, haven't seen trumpeters stryker, and I just haven't built any modern armor yet.

I'm going to start off with the base...

for the base i cut a 2cm thick piece of wood to the right size , painted the top with white glue and put Das clay on the top.
Then once the clay dried I sanded down the edges.

...sorry for the bad picture quality , the camera i normally use is the one that is on my phone but it got dropped so I've had to use the camera from my old phone :(

I've now flocked the base, the flock is made from woodland scenic fine ballast (brown) , green fine turf ,lichen and citadel static grass.
(And again , sorry for the bad picture quality  )

...I'm going to put the rest of the flock on at the sides after I've given the base another coat of black.

Good start on the base, you adding any trees, or bushes? I've looked back at the beginning of your build and didn't see any, and isn't that a grass mat? I love those things, anyway this looks like a fun build my friend,

I'm going to be adding some long grass and small bushes , the grass mat thing in the picture is a bit strange and I'm not too sure how to use it. I was going to use it as the main ground cover for the base but its too small
So I'm most likely make use of it by taking tufts off it

I've gone ahead and added some long grass to the base (that woodland scenic field grass stuff).
My plan is to show the stryker driving through a farmers fence , kinda like on the box art....

so here's how the base looks now :th:

Thanks , maybe the farmer will understand that driving through a fence is just so much cooler than using the road! :th:

I then primed the whole model in tamiya Xf-69 (nato black)
Image

Then I base coated the whole model (except for the tires) with tamiya Xf-27 and then dry brushed the green part with citadel death world Forrest.
Image

Image
(sorry for the bad quality of pictures...)

I decided to lighten the model and add a bit more detail by highlighting the whole model with revell olive green.

The reason I've not used the paint set I had in the picture at the beginning is that i did not realize that they weren't acrylic, so they were a bit to volatile for me to be spraying without an extractor. And when i did try to spray the paint i found it rather hard to clean it out the airbrush , but this is probably not any fault of the paint because i didn't have the right thinners.

So this is how the model looks on the base. I don't really think it looks right on the base and I'm not sure on how I'm going to tie the model into the base.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. :th:

Looks great, Red against the blue, have a training exercise, two blue standing arms down, looking pissed, two red on the Stryker, mediator on the right , holding white, green, blue, yellow, red, tags. If my memory serves me. Those were tak colors. But it's been awhile, a younger guy might be of more help on modern color codes. oh well there's my idea. Again very nice build.
