Hasegawa F-16 Fighting Falcon

Hi guys
So this will be the little thread for my build of the F-16 eggplane i recently bought
I have a few others so maybe i will build a second eggplane later on but for now this will be my entry

My plan is to build it in the Dutch scheme
As far as painting they are the same (i think) but it will look nice if there is a little eggplane on my Dutch shelf in the display cabinet
So the Royal Netherlands AirForce version will be my choise

So all i can say is have fun with your builds and hopefully i will be back with a update soon (these things aren't that difficult to build)

Hi guys
So it is build
There are only a few pieces in the kit so no big suprise there







Here is the only part that needed some sanding
The air intake was a bit too big so i had to sand it flysh with the rest of the fuselage

Other then that there is nothing worth mentioning about it
It took me only a couple of minutes to put together and the way it look now i will be painting it soon
I will do that when the cockpits of my other builds need to be painted

And that is all i have

Yours looks a very clean build, I have been sanding every thing & will need a lot of filling

I only had to sand the intake wich was a bit too big but other then that the fit was good

I was kind of hoping you'd make an egg version of your GB Falcon

I think that would be extremely difficult to do
I have thought about it but i decided that it would be to hard to pull off

No doubt, I was mostly joking since it was such a complex job.

Looked amazing and I'm sure you'll make an egg-16 to match.

But i seriously considered if it was possible
I think that with a lot of time and good drawing skills it can be done
But i don't want to put that much time in this build
I bought a Eduard BF-109 last week and got a mini version from Tiger models from their cute series and i do plan on making them look the same
But the cute 109 isn't shaped like a egg so it should be something that can be done

This is more of a slap it together in 5 minutes after sanding it for 10

Only 10 minutes I had a full work out with my one must have been made of old scrap Zeroes

And i was going slow but to be honest these kits don't offer much challengewith building them
Painting can be harder with things like masking
The shape isn't very easy to mask

A good 30/40 minutes plus can only use a hairy stick to paint ( Heath reason's)

Brush painting can be usefull in some cases
I brushpainted parts of my MiG-15's yesterday as it took me much longer to mask the bottoms and then spray the wheelbays then it took me to just brush paint them
But real good brushpainting is a artform all on it's own
I have struggled with that for a real long time when i tried things like camo patterns with soft edges
And i am certain i didn't master it but there still is 1 brush painted model in my collection and that is the only one where you don't see the markings from the brush

I have been pretty busy with my MiG-15 collection wich is finished and i am currently building a MiG-21 PFM and a Sabre
So i kind of forgot this one a bit

So here is the final update already
These kits don't require a lot of work and because of that i forgot all about
I didn't do the same things i would with a regular kit with this one and even something like a wash was skipped
Mainly because it wasn't my plan to weather it but instead keeping it kind of toy like

So here is what i did





I painted it with various Aqueous colors but i didn't followed the instruction as the Dutch F-16 fleet only has 2 base colors and a light grey nose instead of the 3 base colors and black nose they tell you to use
The metal parts where done with mr metal color aluminium and the pilot with various Vallejo modelcolor paints


After a coat of Aqua gloss i decalled it
I really don't like Hasegawa decals though
A lot of decalfilm around the print and some just curled up once they got removed from the paper


After that a flat coat with AK Ultra matte varnish
And i placed the pilot and canopy


And it was done as far as i am conserned

And that is all i have

True, noted. Sad thing is I totally could've painted most of what the decals do, but I didn't because I wanted the "practice"



Nope, fire. Fire is the answer.
