Hi, I'm restarting modelling from scratch now. When I was a teenager I built a lot - mostly to blow them up during the fireworks seasons - but nowadays I've want to make something for the shelves.

The primary theme is space; I've got the 1:144 Saturn V/Apollo from Airfix waiting to be built, and I'm going to do a Space Shuttle, possible also some modern ones (e.g. SpaceX, Orbital, Virgin Galactic et al - a 1:144 Falcon 9 Heavy would be nice).

But I'm practicing on smaller, simpler, classic WWII 1:72 aircrafts until I get confident enough to build the larger ones.

Anyway, I really enjoy the relaxing feeling of working with my fingers opposed to what I do at work!

Welcome to ISM. I could never blow my models up as a kid. We were going to Iran in 79 so I took my models apart and buried them in big pickle jars. well we did not go to Iran and so my father had a new shed made and poured concrete over where I buried the models. maybe I should have blown them up....

I think you, like many of us, are reconnecting with the hobby after a long absence. It's almost like meditation to let yourself get absorbed into what you're doing.
