Messerschmitt Me262 A-1a Tamiya 1/48

Okay I have wanted to build this for the last year - still not so great at planes, thus I'm building more. I picked this model because our most prolific YouTube model builder from Germany did a whole build series on this and I thought it looked so cool I'd give it a try.

I built one of these after my first ever visit to Hendon way back in the early 70's, it was my first Revel kit.

I finished the interior and glued it in half the plane, I can later paint the interior.

Used masking stuff on the part that needs to remain clear.

Look I always find the whole build thing to be a bit boring - here's the model, follow instructions, and bingo - you're done - so why bore you with the pics?

Did a pre shade and the painted my metal parts 8/1 ratio here with steel and red and the color is epic!






Painted the bottom in light blue 9 parts to 1 part JA Gray. Really like the results:

It reads "Wikingershiff" bomb rack that carry an air to air rocket.

Did the basic paint colors here:
First dark green:


Then I mask off the pattern:



Light green pattern:



Remove masking tape:


Re-touch up the sky blue on side of plane:


Did the camouflage pattern - and here is where I discovered the limitations of my airbrush - the Iwata Neo just has some problems with small patterns:

I then did some minor weathering, a flat coat, and attached all the stuff (bits and bobs) and I am pleased with my final results.
