Airfix 1/24 Typhoon

Started the big typhoon last weekend. First build in 8 years.
The kit is build oob except for the airscale decals on the instrument panel.

That looks amazing mate. I made the Tiffy last year with the Airscale decals too. You've done a brilliant job.

Are you going to display the engine? Its an awesome piece of plastic when its all completed and plumbed in.

If you'll permit a recommendation? If you can stretch to it, get yourself a set of Barracuda cast resin wheels. They are absolutely amazing and knock seven buckets of sand out of the kit parts.

Regardless, enjoy the build, she's a magnificent kit. Just mind your back when picking it up, bend at the knees LOL.

Still don't know what to do about the engine.
Love a model with closed covers but then I have to sacrifice the engine detail, same with the gun covers. Maybe I'll try how much detail i can get in the closed covers if i thin them.
About the Barracude wheel's, I try to keep the cost a bit low as I had to invest a lot in new hardware (paints changed to acrylics, I had mainly enamels) after 8 year of inactivity.
About acrylics, I'm having big trouble airbrushing Vallejo model color. I was used to use Modelmasters but they are not available in Belguim anymore.

You need to thin them quite a lot. 70/30 thinners to paint would be about right. Vallejo do a range of paints specifically for airbrushes called Model Air.

I forgot the gun bays, they're beautiful as well. You've got some tough calls to make going forward! Even the insides of the gun covers are beautiful on this thing. It just isn't fair!

Was looking at one these the other day, got to Improve my skills to do it justice before I take on something like that.
