Mikey's T34/85 Mod. 1944 - 'Take me to church'

Post by MikeyKb »

Hey everyone,

A chunk of time opened up in my schedule, and it looks like I might be able to have a go at this GB. There are so many incredible entries, good luck to everyone! Not expecting anything extraordinary out of this build - just wanna have a good time :cheers2:

I'm gonna have a start tonight on the kit (which I found in my stash the other day, completely forgot that I had this!
Obviously, based on the title - there will be a church...or, at least pieces of what's left of one... :wtf:

Here are the box and sprue shots - more info and photos to come!

Well, I knew you were gonna be there....

UPDATE #2

So, I've definitely had a time with this here kit. First Dragon kit, and I must say - I'm not too impressed. Perhaps the Orange boxes are worse-off, but needless to say - this aint' an easy-breezy Tamiya kit...

Here's the work in progress...
De-Structions tell me to start with the wheels... I decided that they couldn't tell me what to do...

Bent some fenders in advance of some heavy weathering...

Now... see part C7?! It says there's supposed to be a gun placement.. all I see is a hole!

I decided to take an extra gun placement from the kit - it wasn't being used, looks the part too!

You can even see the full gun in the interior...

More progress yesterday!

Trying out some metal wire replacements... didn't end up sticking with em'

Here she is at the moment, almost donzo! ... very much not looking forward to the tracks

Finally, I think I'm going to go with the Minsk 1944 version... depicting the Battle of Białystok–Minsk - arguably, the largest hit to the German War machine in WWII - and which finally led to it's downfall, and that of Berlin.

Thanks for stopping by! More of a history lesson and some priming are up next!

The orange boxes are often times just reboxes of older kits, minus PE and a reduced decal option.
They're supposed to be the discount kit.
They toss in a few figures to dress it up and enable them to charge a little more.

I just did a quick think and I realised that it's been almost 8 years since I built a t34/85.
You may have inspired me Mike.
I've always liked the big gun t34
