MiniArt - Pz. Kpfw. MK.III 749

Post by MrFlix »

After just ordering my new model, I'll be sharing the progress with you guys. As this is the first model, I'm hoping to get some advice (both technique as creative). I am not so experienced with advanced techniques so while I wait for my package to arrive I want to share with you guys the steps/products I plan on using to finish this kit.

1) After assembling I plan on priming with Tamiya Grey Surface Primer #87042
2) For the base coat I will use Tamiya TS-46 Light Sand #85046
3) Paint the remainder of the kit
3) I will protect that layer with Humbrol Matt Varnish Spray # 49
4) Using dark wash on the kit (first time trying)
5) Drybrushing, I purchased Tamiya Desert Yellow acrylic paint # XF-59 to achieve this
6) ...

As I already stated, I'm very new to scale modelling so any suggestions or advice would be welcome and greatly appreciated. ;)
I plan on posting pictures of each of the previous steps once I start.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your build.

Although I'm no expert on AFV painting and weathering, I suggest you first try Ultimate dark wash on a small section of the Humbrol Matt Varnish to make sure it cleans off ok.

Update:

As the e-store was not allowed to ship everything overseas, I changed the plan and went to a another store and got my first kit there (also got some nice insights from the people working there). I will start working on a MiniArt - Pz. Kpfw. MK.III 749.

Looking forward to getting started this weekend with the first part, I will keep everything logged so that you guys (the experts ;) )can give advice if needed.

Haha thanks, spend almost an hour in the store. I think I came out with the right choice! :D

Progress update, I installed the driver area... hopefully I can have some more time this weekend to finish more of the tank.

You've hitherto done a great job on the kit! I've never built any MiniArt armored vehicles, but I'm a big fan of their figures. That interior looks promising...
- Alles gut!

ON THE WORKBENCH:
Hobby Boss 1:35 Swedish Strv.122 Tank (finished, awaiting photos)
Tarangus 1:48 SAAB 91 Safir B/C/D

IN THE STASH
Dragon 1:35 Kleines Panzerbefehlswagen I
Miniart 1:35 German Tank Crew (1944) - for use with the Panther. Thread comin' soon!
