Now that I'm in the right one...

You've no idea how welcome this was after a Mother's Day morning ruined by a toddler getting her last molars...

Great job, thanks chaps! :thumb2:

Now to have my coffee and put my feet up.

Just FYI, Paul, the Mr Hobby instructions are:

HOW TO USE: No metallic base coat or preparation is necessary before using this product because the color base will easily produce a metallic color.

Base color method.

1. Apply a base coat of Mr Hobby gloss black or Mr Hobby spray can gloss black.

2. Once the base color is thoroughly dry, paint the the metallic color. The metallic paint particles will give the appearance of an uneven flow during application at first but will become beautiful and even during the drying process.* During painting, be careful not to paint too thickly in one area, and also take care not to rough up the painted surface before a second coat to ensure an even application.

3. After drying, the surface will have evened out and any irregularity from the first coat will be corrected by the second. For best results, use Mr Hobby Self-Leveling Thinner.

- When using Mr Hobby Metallics, be sure to mix well before use as color particles will have settled.
- Since the metallic paint is quick drying, stirring once in the airbrush may be needed to avoid drying inside the brush.**
- If airbrushing with thinner, please use a ratio of 5:1 paint to thinner for best results.
- We recommend using an airbrush to apply the paint for the best, most beautiful finish.
- For a clean metallic luster a smooth base coat is necessary.
- You cannot clean the paint from the top***
- Use great care when masking to avoid damaging the paint.

* I'm editorializing here, but I think that's about right.
** Sounds like some standard "don't leave this in your brush and go put a kettle on" warning.
*** I'm a bit flummoxed on this one, but I believe it means you shouldn't wash, buff, or stain the bare paint without a top coat.

Paul, no more live hang outs :bash:

I'm so sorry to hear this as I thought it was a great and interesting new idea' to me anyway and cheaper than the pub to sit around and make models in the Company of fello said modellers.

But Paul, life is for living and enjoying what you do, if it has cause you stress then that is the right choice for you.

Thanks for sharing what time we have had on the hangouts to date.

No worries. Nothing earth shattering there, especially not for an advanced modeler. Just thought I'd put your mind at ease :)
