Ammo Washes and Pigments - Gloss, Satin or Matte?

Hi all,

How is it best to use the Mig Ammo weathering washes and pigments? Are they best of on a gloss coat or will they be ok on matte? Also, how are they best sealed in? Sorry for the overload of questions.

I'm sort of in the same boat. From what I've found out pin and washes (enamel) should be on gloss, pigments, rust, dust etc should be on matt they stick better and of the use pigment setter you don't need to seal it in.

I'm also trying to find out best way to airbrush Ammo mig varnish see here http://www.intscalemodeller.com/viewtop ... 56&t=17755 had quite a few looks but as yet no replies, I think I also put it in the wrong section.....sorry.

If you find out any different let me know.

I'll use them as you say for now and ill experiment with them in the future to see if i find anything different. Sorry, but i can't help you with the gloss varnish as i use aqua gloss.

Use the Ultimate Washes ! They are clay based and can be removed completely from a gloss coat so you can't go wrong

How did you get on mate?

I found similar to you really, the washes are better on gloss and the pigments on matte, but i then sealed both in with a matte coat (you probably could use gloss but i did these steps last so the matte varnish finished it off). I have found that with the washes leaving them for different drying times gave different looks that together can look really good, so i recommend that. For example, leave it for 5 minutes and then wipe it off, then 30 mins and so on... The pigments are good, but personally i prefer the humbrol ones ( i normally hate humbrol) as they have more realistic effects. I will now try mixing washes and pigments to see what i can get!

I do use them, but i was just experimented with the Ammo stuff to see what else i can get!
