Unrestored StuG III @ Patton Museum

This is an interesting one.

Unfortunately the Patton Museum in Fort Knox, KY is a shell of the former "tank museum" it once was. However, one interesting piece, particularly to modellers, is an unrestored StuG III that was pulled out of a Russian swamp. What stands out to me (there are probably other details I don't know to miss) is how crude the zimmerit appears to be applied in places (at least where it remains,) The waffle pattern is smudged here and there as opposed to a lot of restored pieces with near perfect application. I was also interested to see period Dunkelgelb, albeit sitting in a swamp for who knows how long. Finally I thought it was interesting to see how well the primer held up and in what places rust took hold and where it didn't.

It was very dark in the museum, so I tried to take some pictures with and without flash.
