Which PRIMER for Allejo Model Color brush apppled??

Gentlemen,
Been away 30 years so I have been watching much video as well as reading. I intend to start using a brush, rather than an airbrush. I concluded that Vallejo Model Color it the best choice. However, I have read some nasty comments about the Vallejo primer for Model Color applied by hand brush or airbrush. It must cure for at least 48 hours, and even then some claim it can flake off, or cannot be sanded without chipping off.

The primer that most agree can be sanded without problem is the Tamiya aerosol can, or bottle liquid. These are lacquer which I would rather avoid,
particularly the aerosol can.

What primer do you recommend I use as a base for the Vallejo Model Color paints applied by hand brush?

Stynylrez/Ultimate is not lacquer (far as i know) and has worked beautifully for me, though I haven't hair brushed it. I bet if you thin it a little bit it would work just as well as Tamiya.

Acrylic car bodywork primers can also work well. Come in a spray can so you have to be careful not to flood the model but provide a nice smooth surface.

Tamiya rattle cans are great but expensive. The vallejo gloss black primer seems OK but hated the grey one. Stynlrez/Ultimate is great and the black is actually a really nice colour on its own. Have not tried mig or ak

Hi.

Vallejo are acrylic paints and this means that they are not as aggressive towards plastic as enamels and so forth. For this reason, you need a good primer and I would suggest using a Tamiya liquid surface primer, which can be applied with a brush.

Honestly, I haven't been able to achieve with Ultimate or Vallejo primers the same results in terms of sanding as with Tamiya primers. I have tried different techniques, different ratios of primer and thinner, different thicknesses of layers and their amount. However, each time a result was worse than with the Tamiya primer.

Also, you should bear in mind that self-leveling properties of Ultimate don't really work well after sanding. Sometimes it's easy to see after applying a new layer which places were sanded. I managed to solve this problem by removing the previous layer of a primer around a place which I sanded. It's not very convenient.

The odours of all these primers are the same for me, so I can recommend using all of them despite disadvantages which were mentioned above. Moreover, I can recommend using the following scheme:
1. Use the Tamiya liquid primer for sanding purposes
2. Apply a Ultimate or Vallejo primer as the first, basic coat for your figure/kit. There is a range of colours, so you can easily select the most suitable.
