Little bored at work today so I though of this topic
I am currently leading bid on a triad of beat up 1/8 scale models that, since sobering up, I really don't want...but I am the only bid so far.
I put it in a late night low bid, fully expecting a ton of other bids to follow , but so far nothing. Praying for a snipe at the end
Wife will kill me if I win this

Anyone else do something stupid on E Bay ?????

I did a similar thing, I put one low bid on about ten different kits thinking I would more than likely get out bid on them all but if I got one or two it would be a bit of a bonus. I was a bit horrified in a way when I ended winning Severn of them. Took a hit to my bank balance but did get some nice kits for good prices.

Oh dear now I am getting scared, might not be eating for a few months if I don't get outbid
I got sucked into a bidding war on my first ever auction, many years ago, and did "just one more" to see how serious the other guy was
And then he bailed out

I only ever put in my max bid and leave it at that. If some ones prepared to pay more than what I think it's worth they can have it. Seen some people pay silly money for some kits even more than what some places are selling it for new.

I once got cold feet on something I bid on and contacted the seller asking them to cancel my bid because I made it in error. The seller complied so it might be worth a try?

The reasoning was actually there as well from E Bay with seller changing the item description....the seller had added info that one partially built model was not the same type as the instructions sitting in front of it in the photos. They were not trying to be deceptive, just did not know what they had..which wasn't what I wanted

A couple of years ago I placed a bid on an Armani watch from China. I won the auction at $200 or did I "buy it now"? I'm not sure. Anyways... a couple of weeks passed and the watch never showed. I went back on eBay and contacted the seller and waited for a couple days for a response. Nothing happened.

Then I reported his @$% on eBay and got a response saying my package has shipped.

I won a bid for a model kit and got two boxes from the seller... a model and a stereo mixer. The guy mixed up and sent both auctions to me.
I helped him and sent it back.
Also had a seller bail out on auction of model paints at the last second..just pulled the auction off line. He said was was mistake, I said b/c was too sweet a deal and he wanted more $ for his stuff. That was kind of BS
This last auction is the first I have ever bailed out on...don't really feel good about it, but with different cars in the it than I wanted and a rampaging wife I will at least not be executed.
Most all the sellers I have dealt with are straight up good people,but a few.....

When I first started using ebay, one of the first items I bid on and won was some old body armour. It was 20+ years old and level 1, which is the lowest rating and even then, no one used that level any more, or made anything at that level either. I bought it just to shoot to see how old armour would hold up.
Anyway, I got it dirt cheap as no one in their right mind would consider wearing it, but the seller charged $25 for shipping (at the time this would more than cover the US postal service's "priority airmail" service). With that service, it should have taken 7 days to arrive, even with a customs delay. After 2 weeks I contacted the seller:
me- I haven't got it yet
her- I sent it two weeks ago, you should have it
me- do you have a tracking number?
her- no
At 3 weeks:
me- I still don't have it
her- I mailed it 3 weeks ago and don't know anything more, go bother the post office
So a lost item report with ebay. A week went by (now about 4 weeks after I won and it was shipped) and ebay found in my favour and refunded the money from her account.
At week 6 the body armour showed up! It had been sent ground mail (for a cost of $10 and no tracking is available on ground packages), she had take a 150% profit on the shipping (which was against the rules anyway). I felt back that I had a vest that I hadn't in the end paid for, so I went to send her the price of the vest (and not a penny for the shipping), but Ebay and Paypal had both locked her accounts due to a sudden rash of confirmed complaints against her (the last 15 or so feedbacks were all negative and the stuff before that was in the 75% positive range. So I was stuck with the money.
We ended up firing a lot of rounds at the armour, and even though it was really only rated for .22 and slow .38 rounds, it stopped 2 rounds of 12gauge buckshot (so 18 .33 calibre pellets in total) and about a dozen rounds of hot 9mm before it started to fail and allow bullets through.

Battling PayPal these days
Sudddenly both my credit cards from two different banks (one business bank, one personal bank) have been removed. When I try to add the cards back, I get error messages. Spent two hours on the weekend going back and forth from bank to PayPal and kept getting it is the other person's fault. I did it four times. Then just gave up and paid with credit card and not PayPal.
So at the moment my PayPal is dead, the postal service in Canada may or may not go on strike and wife is on warpath for money due to house expenditures.
So naturally I bought another funny car model kit and some fiber optic lighting
I figure that is my 24th wedding anniversary present

You are probably closer to the number of presents I give myself, but yes, Monday is year 24 of marriage and 4 more years together before being married. We are buying tiles and finalizing basement floors tomorrow...maybe take her for lunch.
