ENAMEL spray primer with Vallejo paint???

Gentlemen,

I purchased a Modelers Enamel (grey) aerosol can primer in error. Can I use Vallejo acrylic model color paint on this primer?
Can I mix the enamel primer with the acrylic paint?

Hi Warren
Yes you can use acrylic paints over a enamel primer
The acrylics aren't strong enough to damage the enamel
Not that i am aware off anyway
But you can not mix enamel and acrylic together
They have different thinners and other substances in them that won't go together or mix
It would seperate right away once you stop stirring it
If you give them enough time to dry you can use one over the other but the first layer has to be absolutly dry
So i wouldn't recommend doing that
I find it easier to paint with acrylics and do my weathering with enamel products

Just to back up MarkVerploeg yes you can and it is how I prefer to operate. I use an enamel primer as my first coat on everything because it is thinner then the Ultimate poly, this allows details and defects to show through perfectly. Then I use the Ultimate to cover all seams and anywhere that needs help, the two work perfectly together, and both allow for acrylic (and any other) paint to be used with success.
