Hi all this is my entry to this fine GB .



I have had this in the stash for a long time was going to save this for the later GB, but i found something else for that now.
here are the sprue shots.







AND the disstructions .









WILL be using rattle cans for this one for a change



Made a start on the body shell first thinkgo over it and mark over the seam lines , makes it easy to see when sanding them back , when the lines
gone you have got it , leaving the sprue attached in the roof opening for now, to keep some strength in it .



Put some of the engine parts together , the rest cut out ready for primer .



Engine and transmission.
Jaguar and engine designer Walter Hassan had previously created a 48-valve variant of their V12 engine specifically for motorsport use. It featured a double overhead camshaft layout with four valves per cylinder, compared with the single overhead camshaft and two valves per cylinder of the production engine, which was used in the Jaguar XJ and Jaguar XJS models at the time.[10][11][16][17]

TWR and Cosworth had manufactured a number of these racing V12 engines during the 1980s and they had been raced competitively, with a 7-litre version of this engine featuring in the Le Mans winning Silk Cut Jaguar XJR-9. Five of these engines still existed, all of which were fitted with dry sump lubrication. These engines were chosen and considered to be especially useful as the dry sump would lower the vehicle's centre of gravity. The displacement of the V12 was set at 6.2 litres (6222 cc) for the XJ220.[17][18] The engine fitted to the XJ220 concept had titanium connecting rods.[10]

Jaguar had little experience with four-wheel drive systems at the time, having previously only produced rear-wheel drive cars. Randle approached Tony Rolt's company, FF Developments to design the transmission and four-wheel drive system for the XJ220, with Rolt's son Stuart running the project. Tony Rolt was the Technical Director of Ferguson Research, where he was heavily involved in the design of the four-wheel drive system used in the Jensen FF, the first sports car to be fitted with such a transmission.[19][20] Tony Rolt also had a long involvement with Jaguar, winning the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans with the factory works team driving the Jaguar C-Type.[14][18][20]

The mid-engine complicated the design of the four-wheel drive system, and an innovative solution was needed to get drive from the rear of the engine to the front wheels. The chosen design took the front-wheel drive from the central differential on the rear transaxle and sent it through the V in the centre of the engine using a quill drive, before joining an inverted differential.[14] The clutch was a twin-plate unit designed by AP Racing.[11]

Ooooo I agree. I've seen this kit many times but have yet to see one built. Love it!

Got a bit more done on the jag.
put all the engine together and painted it and gave it a wash .







Then primed the body , then when dry flatted it with 2,500 grit wet and dry.



next up was the inner engine bay , i used a rattle can for this, humbrol polished steel,sprayed it on and gentle rubbed it when dry with a cotton bud.
i did the same for the pipes and brake discs , give it a nice bit of variation .







Leaving that to one side i painted the body with its metalic red paint, i gave it 3 coats.







After leaving it to dry overnight i sprayed it with 3 coats of laquer , and now i will leave this for a few days to harden off .







That is it for now next update in a couple of days

Nice work Martin. The paint seemed to have orange peeled a little on you but hopefully it'll clean up with some sanding after the paint has hardened. And I agree with the insomniac above my post......some naughty owner needs to look after their lovely jag!

Just let the pain sit for a few days to cure fully, then you can wet sand and get that smooth

I bet the guy smokes in the Jag too and eats fast food and leaves the containers under the seats...pig

lads yeah he is a mucky git , he has no respect for this amazing super car he has abandoned it in the airport car park in DUBI.
well that is the plan for this big cat.
the seats dash etc all in engine in place .
U M P washes are going to have a good work out on this fat cat

just a quick update .
got the first part of the sand down ,next will be some concrete and light dirt.
this is all expermentle for me so hoping it goes ok.
using all u. m. p washes .

Ahh now I see what you are up to

I have seen those abandoned super car pics before.
I am sure some are true, others likely the result of a dust storm and someone's imagination.
Look at all the crap in the streets around the car as well, my baby would not be sitting there in the first place!
