Chief builds ........... something!

Post by chief5437 »

Hi fellas :th:

Found myself at a bit of a loose end last night, so thought I'd make a start on this.

I have no idea what's going to happen though, lol!

Here are the two sacrificial kits I'll be using, along with any other bits I can find in the spares drawer.

1/48 A-10, one of my first kits, and it shows, lol!

Image

And the body of a 1/35 Stryker, something I started years ago but will never finish!

After ripping parts off, and hacking away with the razor saw, then a little 'offering up', this is a mock up of the basic shape.

Lots more work to do, but I think it looks pretty cool. Of course, all this is subject to change at a moments notice, lol!

That's it for now, cheers fellas :cheers2: :th:

Looks very cool, love the kit bashing going on round here at the moment. It reminds me a little of the Marine Dropship from Aliens.
Keep at it man, gonna be awesome.

Hi fellas :th:

Got a bit done on this.

After deciding on the shape I got all the big bits glued together. Then I gave it a coat of primer, just to blend it all together.

Next up was scratching some landing struts. Plastic tube and brass rod should support this beast!

Then it was on to the fun bit, adding lots of greebles, gizmos, whatnots, thingmajigs and knicknacks!

Few bits to finish off, then I can think about paint. Not sure where to go with that just yet?:

That's all for now fellas, thanks for looking :cheers2: :th:

Hi fellas :th:
Thanks for your kind comments :cheers2:

Final update on this.

I decided to go with a grey scheme on this, I thought green would be a bit too obvious.

Base coat down.

Image

After a gloss coat, I raided the decal dungeon, the decals were chipped a bit with the same colour as the base coat.

Found this one, I couldn't resist using it, lol!

Image

Next I used an enamel wash to give it a bit of a streaky/grimy effect.

Image

After a matt coat, I used some light grey pastels to add some highlights and some rusty pastels for more staining.

So, I think that's it all done. Just got to unmask the canopy and wait for daylight to take some pics for the reveal section.

Cheers for having a look guys! :cheers2: :cheers2:

This is the most impressive miss mash I have ever seen. It looks like it could have been a kit, not created out of your mind.
Really turned out great :thumb2:
