Here is my next project warning picture heavy as you get a lot of plastic for £16.

The sprune shots so excellent detail on this kit and a choice of 4 to build all with different noses.

Parts of the cockpit

The clear parts look really good and the bit on the right is the 4th nose

The decals look really good as well will have to wait and see how the work later

The instructions look really clear and easy to use

And the work done so far just the cockpit so far.

Scribed panel lines, Rivets, a good looking and detailed cockpit, nice wheels and lots of clear parts...

Sat ready...... munchin....... could do with a coke smilie to go with the popcorn though!

Just a few bits I've done.

Some if the dangley bits rocket tubes fuel tanks and missile frames.

A close up of the rocket tubes the detail is great

The nose with about 25g of weight it says 20g but added a little more to be on the safe side.

The cockpit and the undercarriage doors

The tail booms with the undercarriage bays in them.

So far I have been really impressed with this kit the fit as been great and the detail is superb

Quick update cockpit all painted a quick wash pastel and water and dry brushed to bring out some of the detail then wings and booms glued together again with very few problems.

Nice kit. I think if I'd bought it I would have been tempted to spend £64 to get the 4 variants

I'm building the Academy 1/72 Hawker Hurricane mk2 and think it's a sweet little kit, well impressed with Academy.

The fit was really good no filler needed just sanding on the seam lines.
So on with the primer on a coat of humbrol silver No 11.

Sorry not great photos but its got dark all of a sudden think we're going to have a storm ill try and get better photos in the morning.

Well you would have thought I'd get more done this afternoon but been prepping this lot ready for paint which has took most of the afternoon and still got to mask the canopy after I've rested my eyes.

Yeah it will proberly be over the weekend now got half the the canopy mask and another 3 bits too do (it comes in 5 bits) so it's a long job.

So update time.

So I masked of the areas for the yellow then painted it the masked of again for the anti glare panels and painted again. Before I painted the black I put a bit of maskol down for the chipping and it didn't work to bad.

Had a slight problem this side as I was taking the tape of some if the paint came with it but I think it works to my advantage.

What do you think should I reprint or leave it.

The panels look a bit too new so rubbed them down to get a worn effect.

That's it for now guys it will be canopy on then a couple of coats of klear then on with the decals.

I think it could be left maybe add some other chips around it like it was hit by something?

thta swhat i was thinking ill have another look at in the morning if i put some burn marks round it it could be a deflected round maybe because the japs only hane machine guns an not cannons on the zeros i think and in there bombers that the aircraft would have been hunting.

She looks awesome. I agree with the others, that wear on the anti-glare is perfect. I'd keep that boo boo in the paint too. Bird strike or a hit from an errant round.

Right update time

I "bashed" up the anti glare panels and tonight was decal time

but ill get on to that later.

On with the photos.

So this evening I started on the decals the way this build has gone i thought this would be a piece of cake how wrong i was. 1st few went on great then the trouble started with some splitting some just breaking up some not settling some taking ages to come of the backing paper so I did the best I could started at about 6 and only just finished so photos will be on in the morning as the light is not great at the mo.

I feel your pain m8! I am having exactly the same issues this pm as well. Totally cheesed off to put it mildly. I mean printing decent decals, that's pretty basic stuff, surely?..........

I would mind so much if the kit was rubbish but is a good build for a good price if airfix can do it why not everyone.

I feel bad for you Nigel... and David (Shirley) too.
Going through the build and the initial painting only to have the decal disintegrate is a pisser.
Then you have to wait a week or two for replacements if you have to order them, so your build gets delayed.
RAAAARRRGHHH!!!!
But I digress.

Well this morning some have settled down a little better some havent.

The main ones on the nose and wings were fine thank god

the smaller stars both split on me but managed to line them up if there are any gaps ill hide it with weathering.

the wrap around ones on the boom were a problem not settling down and too big so had to play about with them.

The prop one were a problem they were too big so would not conform properly and 3 of them split.

nearly all the smaller ones just fell apart when in the water or when i tried to slide them of so apart from a few no step and the fuel ones it dose not have them which is a shame the decals are very very thin and i think that's the problem a little thicker and they would be tougher and better.

no only water mate i apply revell decal soft to the place where i want to apply it then on top aswell never had a problem before.

Sorry to hear about your decal disasters Nige....though to look now I think you have done an amazing job recovering and hiding the problems you had.. Well done mate..

The prop cones candy stripes look fantastic...

I also think the anti glare looks good along with the booboo bird strike on the nose.

Cheers wappy a least i can hide some if not all of it with chipping to her on the markings because it flew in a harsh environment thats one saving grace and hopefully the varnish will help to.

I'd have to agree, you've set her up nicely. It's too bad about those decals.
I have no doubt that you'll straighten all that up with weathering.

Just some gentle weathering and chipping to hide the decal problems

So once dry another coat of klear then on with the wash and other bits and bobs

Yeah fairly happy with it once the wash is on should dull it down nicely and blend it together just a shame I had to do it.

You seem to have no trouble at all with it Nige. She looks pretty good. That second treatment will probably look good too.
