Advice/Help on Matte coat over enamel paint

Hi all, just need some advice on what matte coats can be used to coat a model painted with enamel paints. I paint using enamels and don't want to move over to acrylics, but wouldn't mind an acrylic matt coat. I have tried Humbrol matte coat but it frosted my model. I also used a commercial one but it causes a shiny sheen like effect.

Would love to know if someone actually has coated an enamel painted model with a matt coat successfully. What product would be best suited for this task?

I to use allot of enamels when painting and have now settle on using Alclads for the final cote, wheter it is matte or gloss.

I use Revell Matt2 for that purpose.

I had the same issue with Humbrol myself. In theory, it should be safe to use an acrylic matte varnish over enamel paint although I have never tried it myself, as I have always used acrylic paint on all my projects.

As for a matte varnish might I suggest using Winsdor & Newton Artists' Acrylic Matt UV Varnish. I saw it demo'd on another modelers web site and decided to give it a go. It takes a 50/50 mixture with your favorite acrylic thinner and goes down perfectly every time (no frosting). I have used it on all my planes since and I haven't considered using anything else since.

Thanks Bjorn mate, much appreciated, I have looked at a few youtube reviews of alclad since you told me and I think I will buy some of this product. I think it should fix my problem.

Thanks for the advice Joe, I actually have a very similar product to this and thats the one giving me issues, so will stick with the modelling products that NAMbiohazard and Hamilkar have advised, but will keep an eye out for Winsor & Newton varnish in case I start painting with acrylics.
