Italeri 1/35 LVT Landing Vehicle Tracked (X2)

The LVT (A) 4 is getting a little closer to the finish line, this time the streaking grime and dust streaking was applied.



The first pic here is the LVT (A) 4 before the streaking effects:




The Streaking Grime was applied to ALL angled and vertical surfaces to simulate...well streaking grime I suppose.
This shot has the streaking grime applied to the side pontoon. After giving the grime some time to dry (5 to 10 minutes), the grime was blended with a dampened brush with downward strokes. Turpenoid was used for the blending.




I let the streaking grime dry for 48 hours then did the same streaking procedure with the Pacific Dust. I only used the Pacific Dust on the lower hull front and back, and the side pontoons. The thought was the Pacific Dust would simulate salt water streaking on the lower hull parts.




And a few pics with the streaking effects completed.
(The Pacific Dust looks very prominent on the front hull in the pic for some reason, it really doesn't look that stark to the naked eye.)

Getting closer to the finish, but getting a bit nervous with the GB end date fast approaching. Hopefully both LVT's will make it to the finish line.



Some stowage was added to the LVT (A) 4 for some additional detail. The rear deck stowage is cast resin parts and the turret stowage has a few resin ammo cans and a tarp made from tissue paper.
Then the LVT (A) 4 received a few light coats of Testors Dullcote.

The LVT-4 is about half way through the weathering stages. (I won't repeat all the weathering steps on the LVT-4, as I'm basically using the same methods as was used on the LVT (A) 4.)
Decided to add some tissue paper tarps to the cargo area. (Kleenex rolled to shape and lightly whetted with a highly diluted pva glue.)

Well, after four full months of living and breathing LVT's, I'm calling these monsters done
It was probably my largest armor project I've done so far and was great fun overall

The LVT (A) 4 was completed first and finished without too many errors. Both kits were somewhat difficult to get the larger panels glued correctly due to warp and that was the largest issue I had with the LVT (A) 4. The LVT-4 was another story. A large section of paint flaked off when removing the masking from the camo painting and the decals silvered like a dry lake bed to name a few issues encountered. I fixed the issues as best I could, but it became a little stressful with the GB end date getting closer and closer.

Anyway, all is well now, LVT (A) 4 has some final weathering applied with some dark colored pigments to represent the black sands of Iwo Jima.
The LVT-4 does not have any pigments applied as I'm thinking about adding some cargo and a display base, and the pigments would be added at that time. This would be a side project at a later date as I honestly have had my fill of LVT's for a while
