1/12 Yamaha YZF-R1 Taira FINISHED

Post by Davethepitch »

I decided to build a Yamaha YZF-R1 Taira and instead of putting Semi gloss black on the engine i have put Titanium gold but i am not sure if it looks right.

I am also thinking of spraying the back section of the exhaust Titanium gold as there is a lot of silver on this bike and any critism greatly appreciated.

The only bonus is i have used an airbrush for almost everything and only used a brush on the chain, disc calipers, carbs and the gold covers on the engine.

Hi Paul

The frame comes like that straight out of the box and i thought why paint it when it looks that good. :th:

Last night i applied the large decals on the fairing and whilst doing the other side i caught the decal with my hand and tore it really bad so no decals to go on but other than that here it is naked.

I think the Titanium gold on the engine and exhaust looks OK but i seriously hate decals. :wall:

Hi Paul

Thank you for your comments I would say the bike is 99% airbrushed as I am not to good with a paintbrush.

I have a Ducati 1199 Panagale coming and also a Yamaha YZR -M1 Estoril racing and I am dreading the decals on that.

That will be a total of five bikes I will possibly have done and I am lucky as Emodels is about only a mile away from where I live so I can get my paint I need easy.

Looks very nice Dave:)
I have done the Yamaha YZR -M1 Estoril and decals are not too bad, quite a few but with patience, a lot of Micro sol and heaps of luck they go on fine:)
