1/48 Focke Wulf Fw190 F8/9

Post by Sdkfz250 »

In my opinion one of the best all-round fighters produced during WW2 and an excellent strike/ground attack aircraft as well, I have always loved the look of the 190 and especially love the chance to see them loaded with ordinance, this Tamiya kit provided me with an opportunity to do that as well as giving three nice camouflage options to pick from.

Decent looking kit! I've never tried a 190 so I look forward to seeing how the build goes! :pop:

I started this build off by putting together the cockpit, glueing in place the seat, joystick, rudder pedals and side panels, all of which fit in with no issues after some light sanding to remove the sprue joints. Upon spraying the indicated parts in the instructions with XF-63 German Grey, followed up by spraying the undercarriage legs, leg guards and wheel wells with Mr Hobby RLM02 along with painting the wheels and engine parts Citadel Paints Abaddon Black, I then took pictures of my progress so far. The cockpit control panel was left separate to make applying both decals given for the part easier.

Once the paint had dried I applied the decals to said control panel and also put in the decal for the seatbelts on the pilot's chair as I chose to have the pilot figure supplied with the kit left out of the aircraft, I'd never claim to be good at figure painting so you won't find any here. I then dry-brushed the cockpit details with XF-12 Japanese Navy Grey as I found the cockpit overall to be too dark for this detail to be noticed otherwise.
