Academy 1/35 Tiger 1 (Mid)

Not a big fan of Academy kits but that turned out very nice. I may have to take another look at them.

Thanks mate. Yes, it did have its quirks but it was worth it once the building phase was done. I cant complain for the price too.

After learning how to use filters and pigments I had another look at the big kitty and decided to apply both processes to the build. My reason being the kit looks too clean, despite the weathering already done. It lacks depth (IMHO) so I thought I'd take another run at it. Once I had a good look I found other things I wanted to fix

The first thing was the tracks. They lacked definition in terms of the metal ware so I dry brushed them with dull aluminium metal coat to bring out the raised detail.




Then it was on to the bodywork. Dot filtering applied to the turret




And the hull and wheels




Brushed out with low odour spirit and a flat headed brush





Turret back on



I missed a bit on the guard in from of the driver's viewport



Magic - its gone





As a base, the filter looks ok, next is detail work and rust streaks, then a wash (I think) before pigments.

By the time its finished it will probably look worse than when I first finished it the first time
