Allclad Klear Kote Gloss help

I had some alclad klear kote gloss, ive had it for some time, I usualy use tamiya, but i gave it a try to seal the decals on a 1/48 spitfire.
This model has on and off taken me 12 months to build, so i dont want to bin it yet, looks fairly ok. The damned Klear kote wont dry!.
The wings are fine , it dried quickly, the fusalage is still tacky after 3 weeks!, realy tacky, ie leave fingerprints tacky.
questions are, did I spray it on too thick?
Is there anyway to make it dry?
If its not going to dry, is there anyway i can get it off without destroying whats underneath.
I would realy appreciate anyone who has experience of the stuff answering these questions for me if possible, and thanks in advance.
Built a lovely little 1/72 zero over the past 3 days, it got tamiya clear!.

I would write to ALCLAD and ask for their help !

seriously... KOTE is another animal... its not a coat its a Lacquer...

very potent stuff and could have reacted with something underneath...
better talk with the manufacturer...

Its actually an enamel product and this is a well known problem, and is the reason i moved to Alclad water based aqua gloss and dullcote lacquer based matt finish.

I can't help, but I tried that stuff once, needless to say, it's never been used again! Hope you can get it sorted though.

Just a thought, I once used some enamels that just wouldn't dry, I stuck the model on top of the boiler and it dried! Do this at your own risk though!

I had actually considered the boiler idea, ill give it a try.
Lesson learned, test before using the new stuff.

I use the Klear Kote Matte and apart from it settling (but you can see it in the cleat bottle) and needing a really good shake I've found it excellent.

For the gloss though it's Aqua Gloss all the way.

Had similar problem once and managed to get it off with a rag with Turpentine on it.
No guarantees though as Turps may be different strengths in different countries:)

Yeah, i had a sniff after i made the post, defo enamel based.
i think there is somebody smiling down on me as i was just about to put the final matt coat on the best build i've had so far ! Whew !!!!!!

Luckily I do also have a bottle of the Aqua Glass so I can use that instead of the Klear Kote Glass; is the general consensus that the Klear Kote Matte will work okay though, or should I be looking to replace that as well?

It's strange - I was researching what would be the best option and I'm sure this was what was generally recommended, but I probably wasn't as thorough as I should have been

The amount of different items i have bought for the gloss and matt clear the last week and then finding out i've bought the wrong stuff ! emodels must be rubbing there hands every time the see my name for an order. I'm giving my arse a headache with it all !

small update.
13 days later........still not completely dry.
model can be handled swiftly, but wouldnt like to hold it for 5 mins.
so far 5 weeks left to dry, we are getting there.

I wonder if there's something else at play here. After your first post i tried it on a part from the scrap box that was painted with arcrylic paint and it was dry the following day.

Aqua gloss isn't cellulose based,

I find our cleaner works great Nige, just make sure whatever you use you fully clean it

Yep works perfect with aqua gloss, you sure its al600 your using and not the enamel based clears

It doesnt smell enamel based like the matt stuff does. I'll post a pic.

I give it a really good flush through with plain old water first, that way you don't use so much Cleaner.

Ive got a video showing you can use just 2ml of cleaner to properly clean your airbrush, its on our channel

Ya, I don't use a ton of the cleaner for aqua gloss, a little goes a long way. As above, for gloss I just flush with water first and then hit it with a half ml or so of cleaner. Job done. It's not as sticky as paint, until it dries...

So long as you clean it right away it flushes out easily enough. The trick is to remember to clean the tip (a couple swabs with a cotton bud), that's where it likes to hide
